Vaccination Recommendations

A guide to vaccination requirements

Due to the Equine Influenza outbreak in 2019, we asked that all horses attending the hunt should have received a vaccination within the previous 6 months. This stance was taken in line with the BHA rules at the time due to our proximity to racing yards and studs combined with our close association with the racing industry. With reduced horse movements during the coronavirus outbreak as well as the minimal number of cases of influenza seen in 2020, the BHA have relaxed their requirements to 12 monthly boosters, however, this may return to a shorter time period in the future.

For the 2021/22 hunting season, in line with BHA Rules and Regulations, we will require that all horses have had their primary vaccination course and thereafter have had at least 12 monthly booster vaccinations. If they have recently restarted their course of vaccinations, they will be able to hunt 7 days after the 2nd vaccination of the course. If vaccinations have lapsed, they will need to be restarted.

This requirement will stand for the forthcoming season but may change depending upon further guidance.
